This was a first ... A Raven landed a few feet away from a young owl and the above photos show the defence pose. This Baby owl pushed his wings out like an umbrella and made itself look much larger! I was sitting below and watched in amazement! The 2 minute video above was filmed yesterday AM quite early, from a very awkward position on a roadway (not that much traffic, thankfully) pointing my lens up into this tree through a maze of branches over a housetop! Thanks to folks who saw me for not running me over or reporting a peeping tom ... I do love photographing birds as anyone who knows me is well aware. :)) More to follow as this Barred Owl family is showing up daily. Thanks for looking and God Bless... TerryV The Barred Owl naps (late afternoon) while the red squirrels, Robins, Hummingbirds, Flickers, Nuthatches, Junco's, etc protest its presence.... Danger... Danger they all exclaim! Momma Muscovy and her trio of adopted Khaki Campbell kids looking good! Momma M takes to the air and stretches her wings... Nice to stretch and take a wee break! A shootout at Muscovy Corral!!! When 2 male Muscovy's decide to duke out who's boss its a good thing that someone is around to break the action up before someone gets hurt... And when doing so wear gloves and grab one of the birds by the wings (close to the birds body) *Did you know that this domesticated South American Duck species are related to our Wood Ducks and are tree nesters in the wild? They have some formidable claw hooks on their strong feet.. so keep clear ! Pure Bliss ... Jagger and 2 of his harem have dug into the grass and are having a sort of a bath in the moist dirt below... They crawled around in that spot for a long time, enjoying every moment!
