I can't tell you how excited I am to be part of this show at the Robert Bateman Centre! (downtown Victoria)
Beginning February 28th until June 15th I will be involved in this very special show. Plumage – The Majestic Art of Birds is a unique collection of paintings, photography and sculpture spanning more than 150 years, that focuses on the ability for birds to reflect nature’s expression of colour, beauty and creativity. Drawing together historically significant artworks by major North American naturalists and artists, as well as contemporary images by local wildlife photographers, the exhibition celebrates one of nature’s most diverse and dynamic animal groups. Mr Mustachio stretches and has a mini nap in the afternoon warmth A slide show below of a couple American Robins having a drink of snow .. Chilly but thirst quenching! I'll begin from the last photo of the day taken near dusk just past 5 PM ... This is the little male Annas finishing his adult moult.. All the other hummingbirds left work early today, but not this guy .. I saw him fly off to places unknown (to me) for the night at 5:18 PM ... The wind and snow continue this evening and I must admit I worry for the lives of these tiny creatures! Hope everyone stays safe during this Winter chill! A sweet and tiny Bushtit posed briefly for me this afternoon... You can see the plum buds underfoot. Tonight all the trees are coated in a snow blanket! Just hummingbird business as usual ... but brrr!!! (slide show) As I was photographing Hummingbirds this afternoon something far up in a Maple tree caught my eye ... I strained to find an opening through the branches to take an unobscured view and saw this Norther Flicker on a snowy branch.. Just as I was focusing my lens, the bird bolted and I caught this .... pre-flight jump before opening its wings to fly! Thank you for looking... TerryV
