The image above is my favourite shot from 2021 , starring Gracie , my "pet" barred owl who visited me on numerous occasions this past June/ July and once even brought her brood of 3 fuzzy kids to my yard. (Check the blog for many more)
I found it incredibly challenging to capture her in flight, especially in the tangle of shaded forest. Very unpredictable as to the moment when she might take flight and when owls do.. they are totally silent...

Smoky Sky Sunrise
I took this photo on July 6th 2015 ,in North Saanich as the smoke layered skies from interior BC forest fires turned the dawn sun red and the local herons roosted in some tall trees waiting for the tide to drop and fishing conditions to improve!
